Stephen Larned, MD
Medical Education Specialist Dr. Stephen Larned consults with academic medical centers on issues including strategic planning, medical school/teaching hospital relations, graduate medical education strategy, operations, and accreditation, hospital operations, and complexity science, as it pertains to healthcare, management, and medical education.
Prior to joining The Bard Group, Dr. Larned was vice president for Medical Affairs for 15 years at the Maine Medical Center, where he also served as the associate dean for Maine Affairs for the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Prior to that, he served on the board of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its Institutional Review Committee.
Dr. Larned also served on the American Hospital Association Coordinating Committee for Health Professions and as a founding board member and second president of the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers. He was also a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges task forces on both medical school financing and information needs of US medical schools and teaching hospitals; and as a representative to the American Medical Association section on medical schools. Board-certified in internal medicine, he practiced primary care in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, for 16 years.
