The relationships between doctors and healthcare organizations – in which, through which, and with which they must work – have suffered. Changing expectations throughout the healthcare system have eroded trust on all sides, and the internal structures through which they have traditionally interacted have become outmoded and ineffective. In our work we address both facets of those relationships – the structural and the aspirational – so that hospitals and physicians can once again join forces and move forward in a way that provides better clinical care, a positive working environment, and improved business performance. We chose the ampersand to represent our work on the shape and meaning of the “and” that joins physicians and healthcare organizations – the intersection that defines healthcare. |
