A Large Municipal Health System
Client Overview:This client is one of largest municipal health service system in the United States, operating a network of acute care hospitals throughout a geographically-scattered major city.
The Bard Group has been engaged by several of the hospitals within the system.
As part of its pledge to improving patient safety within all of its hospitals, ambulatory care and long-term care facilities, the system participates in a number of local, regional and national safety initiatives. and is committed to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s patient safety officer executive development program.
The Challenge:
The organization has made a commitment to become one of the safest hospital systems in the country.
As an intrinsic part of that vision, clinical services had to be restructured to better integrate care between the main public hospital, an affiliated university medical center, and other network affiliates.
The Solution:
To meet that end, The Bard Group initiated a cultural assessment of the relationships within the main public hospital and between it and its affiliate hospitals.
We also worked with physician leaders and professional managers to create the long-term vision for the hospital. and shape an organizational model to fulfill that vision.
The Impact:
While too early to predict impact, our work has been well received throughout the ranks , and we we are now helping the hospital and university medical center on an operational level: to design, build, and implement three clinical service lines that are essential to that future vision.
